Twenty five reading comprehension activities linked to the book Letters from the Lighthouse. Each chapter has a separate comprehension activity that includes 20 questions working on different skills as well as also having the answers included separately.
A sequence of lessons of four lessons for whole-class reading comprehension lessons based on a text on the Ancient Maya. Included is the PowerPoint with all four lessons (written with 5/6 in mind but easily adaptable), the information text about the Ancient Maya and an activity and answer sheet for each lesson. The focus over the week covers vocabulary, retrieval, inference and the ability to summarise.

The first lesson focuses on being able to identify them, as well as discussing the role they play. The second lesson then takes this learning and extends it by requiring children to decide what the most appropriate coordinating conjunction is in each sentence.

Two weeks of fully planned and resourced English planning linked to the book ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’.
This includes both reading and writing planning so children can become immersed in the book to support their understanding in both areas.
The writing planning includes:
A fully resourced two week unit on diary writing, linked to the book The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.
Included are two weeks worth of lesson PowerPoints, activities and sheets as well as support sheets where required and model extracts that can be used. Answer sheets are also included for any tasks that require them.
The ten lesson sequence follows the order as below:
Lesson 1 - Features of a diary
Lesson 2 and 3 - Past tense
Lesson 4 - Writing a diary extract
Lesson 5 - Commas in a list
Lesson 6 - Writing a diary extract
Lesson 7 - Time adverbials
Lesson 8, 9 and 10 - Writing diary extracts
Each grammar focus lesson ties in to the lesson that follows where the skill will then be applied as part of the diary extract written that day. A link is also included to a version of the story being read aloud.
